Soldaten have the option to wear either jackboots or low boots in the field. Jackboots were worn throughout the war while low boots were introduced in early but didn't become common until 1942. By 1944, low boots were more common. If wearing low boots they must be accompanied by ankle gaiters (gamaschen). Many members own both, wearing low boots in the field for mid/late war events while wearing jackboots with the prewar/early war and walkout dress.

Original or properly converted East German Felt boots are authorized for cold weather events.
